Jamie Knight, LL.B., practices labour and employment law as a partner with Filion Wakely Thorup Angeletti  LLP in the firm’s Hamilton and Toronto offices. Jamie has almost thirty-five years of experience working with his clients to improve the effectiveness of their human resources relationships.  Jamie represents employers in all aspects of dealing with their unionized and non-unionized employees. Jamie’s practice features wrongful dismissal, human rights, health and safety, privacy, labour board hearings, collective bargaining and labour arbitrations. Jamie is an author/co-author of some twenty publications – almost all in multiple editions.  He is a teacher, frequent speaker, and pro-active advocate for workplaces that work.

Jamie has been on the Board of the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers (“CACE”) since 2008 and is currently Past President. In 2017, Jamie was named the Canadian HR Reporter 2017 Employment Lawyer of the Year, as selected by Canadian Lawyer Magazine. In addition to a Band 1 ranking in Chambers Global and Chambers Canada, Jamie has maintained a high ranking for many years in other respected sources, including the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory (in the categories of Employment Law and Labour Relations ), the Martindale-Hubbell Directory, Best Lawyers, and in Who’s Who Legal: Canada under the Management Labour and Employment practice area.

Laura Karabulut, LL.B., is a partner in the Toronto office of Filion Wakely Thorup Angeletti LLP and has practiced as management counsel since her call to the Ontario Bar in 2005. Laura received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from York University in 2000 and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario in 2004. She worked with the firm as an articling student before joining the firm as an associate upon her call to the Bar. Laura has authored and contributed to a number of publications, including papers and books touching on various labour relations and employment law matters and regularly speaks at seminars.

Russell Groves, LL.B., is an associate in the Toronto office of Filion Wakely Thorup Angeletti LLP, practising in all areas of labour and employment law. Russ completed his undergraduate studies at Queen's University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biology. Prior to commencing a career in law, Russ worked in the Canadian technology industry and also assisted in the early growth of one of Canada's leading charitable organizations. Russ attended law school at Osgoode Hall and worked as a summer and articling student before joining the firm as an associate. Russ is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association.
